WHAT IS LIQUID?

‘…For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arrive from another place, but you and your fathers family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?’
( Esther 4:14)

The band ‘Narrowpath’ grew out of an involvement with the mission group Christian Surfers UK, seeking to express our collective faith through music to the surfing community of Cornwall. Over the last 24 months, the vision has enlarged to focus on Cornwall as a County, regardless of tribe, generation or doctrinal belief.

The eight members of the group represent four different churches within Cornwall (Elim, Baptist, AOG and Independent), and the ‘non-denominational’ nature has always been a key part of all that has happened. The heart of all that we do, write, play and produce, is driven by a shared relationship with Jesus Christ and we are based on, grounded in, and committed to the notion of seeing our collective faith shared with the unchurched community in Cornwall.

Spilling out of a desire to take our faith to the wider community has been a recognition that Cornwall is relatively barren in terms of high-quality worship events. There are pockets – key churches with a heart to see a dynamic expression of their faith in a corporate setting, but very little that seeks to bring the wider church together and directly impact the culture we live in. We see worship much the same as we see prayer – when people worship God, he responds. We also believe that over time, starting to move our ‘worship’ out of safe, church-based environments will create a space that will allow believers and non-believers to engage with God together without feeling uncomfortable, and creates a really exciting setting for Him to move by his Spirit.

Liquid is aimed at Christians and non-Christians alike, does not (or tries not to) look or sound like ‘church’, is outreach in nature, and will strive to carry all the professionalism and impact of a high-profile, ‘big-name’ event, all on a local level. The events themselves are as much about sharing the gospel in a relevant way as they are about moving beyond our denominations and collectively working together to support the spiritual needs of a County. We are seeking to work alongside existing initiatives with a similar vision, all-be-it a different form of expression.

Liquid is a journey, seeking over time to become a creative expression of the infectious love of Jesus through a programme of gatherings that will ultimately change lives. It is not bound by generation, denomination or location, and, by being deliberately uncomplicated, Liquid seeks to humbly grow God’s kingdom – working with the local church to see the Holy Spirit lead many people to Christ.

It is important to say that Liquid is not about ‘Narrowpath’, but simply about Jesus. It is just one of (what will hopefully become) a number of relevant expressions of our collective faith, joining with all the other amazing things God is currently doing in the County to see significant positive change in the lives of everyone who lives here.

LIQUID AIMS:

• To develop a God-centred, culturally relevant outreach/worship events in Cornwall, with the purpose of encouraging Christians of all generations to unite in worship

• To create an appropriate culturally relevant expression of the Christian faith for the un-churched community

• To bring Christians from around Cornwall together and to get churches to work together on something that will impact the county.

• To use venues all over Cornwall that are not necessarily connected to churches, such as town halls, music venues, nightclubs, etc.

• To create an inspiring and culturally relevant environment to engage with God, and to see him respond

• To see people added to the Kingdom of God
